My Own Activity (PINTEREST DIY)

July 13, 2017

I came up with an activity called Pinterest D.I.Y. Basically, what I’m tasked to do is to remake D.I.Y gifts inspired by Pinterest without much amount spent. Follow the steps I’ve included below on how you could recreate this D.I.Y for yourself. Nothing beats the fun of making your own home decor or handmade gifts for someone special. It is never too early to get started on creating some lovely and inexpensive gifts for friends and family. I’ve picked out 2 D.I.Ys that I found rather interesting and was not difficult to make.

CIRCLE OF LOVE

The first D.I.Y which I would like to call it, the Circle of Love, is trending all over Pinterest. Pinterest used hula hoops to make it. However, I wanted to do something a little smaller, just the right size for a birthday gift. It is so easy to make!
What you’ll need:
Thick Wire
Thin Wire (as a twine)
Fake flowers of your choice
Scissors
Tape
For me, I got my wires and flowers from Art Friends @Clementi.
Step 1: Cut the thicker wire with a pair of scissors to the length of how big you want your ring to be.
Step 2: Shape it into a circle and tape the two ends together. (Do not worry if it is not very round, you can always adjust it later on)

Step 3: Using the leftovers of the thick wire, cut a length suitable to be inside the ring. Then, shape it to any word that you like. Over here, I gone for “Love” as it is the easiest to shape (hence the name).

Step 4: Connect the ring and your word together by twisting the two ends of the word to the ring.

Step 5: Use the thinner wire to secure the flowers onto the ring. This is up to your own decision on where you want to put the flowers. Also, you can decorate with other things like pictures, balloons etc.
I spent a total of $21.87 for the wires and flowers but there are still leftovers so you can make another 1 or 2 more rings depending on the size.

You can incorporate this into your home decor. Im sure it will look amazing on your front door, in a bedroom, or anywhere else! Also, nothing can compare to a gift that was made with love. After all, a handmade gift is much more meaningful than any other expensive gift with little values. I have learned that it is the thought that counts.
Not forgetting that you can also use it as a party decor! Depending on the occasion, you can make a floral wreath to match your wedding decor, a balloon wreath for a birthday, a green and red themed wreathe for Christmas, etc. The possibilities are ENDLESS!
In my opinion, I find that this D.I.Y was a successful one. How amazing is it that you can remake this at a cheap price? Plus, you gain experience and learn new things from there too!
JAR OF HEARTS

Can anything be more popular than mason jar when it comes to DIY rustic and vintage home decor? The use of mason jars make for easy DIY projects that just requires a little bit of creativity with used and new items. The second DIY that I’ll be doing requires glitter. Who doesn’t love glitter? Well, its a love hate thing as it can get really messy at times. (Plus, you will end up having glitter all over you) It’s worth it because the end product will look beautiful!

What you’ll need:
Mason jar (or any used jars that you do not need anymore)
Sticker of your choice
Glitter (any colour)
Spray Glue
Cling wrap
Scissors
Step 1: Paste the sticker into the jar. (This sticker can be of any shape, I’ve just gone for a circle)

Step 2: Spray a decent amount of glue into the jar.

Step 3: Pour glitter into the jar.

Step 4: Using the Cling wrap, wrap it over the opening of the jar and shake well. If your jar has a lid, you will not need the cling wrap. In this case, my jar does not have any.

Step 5: After the glitter has covered every part of the jar, pour out excess glitter onto the cling wrap or into a bin. Let it sit for about 10 mins.

Step 6: Use a scissors, pen or your own fingers to tear out the sticker. (Make sure that the glue has been completely dried before tearing).

Step 7: You can start filling anything inside the jar. I filled it with potpourri and a battery-operated candle.

You can decorate your jars depending on the occasion. Pinterest has done the easter way!
These easter bunny treat jars are a sweet and lovely way to deliver springtime cheer to your loved ones. Fill them with candy, fresh/fake flowers, candle or homemade sugar scrub for a quick and simple DIY gift that’s sure to please.
The Spray Glue and Glitter cost me about $10. However, there were still leftovers so you can remake this DIY with any used jar.
